Why a Concrete Outfit Spends This Much Time Talking About Dirt

Because in Montgomery County the ground decides how long a slab lasts. We would rather explain that before the pour than come back to repour it. This is the company, in the order the work happens.

The soil comes first

Around Conroe the ground is expansive clay — the Houston-area gumbo that swells in a wet fall and shrinks hard through August. Concrete poured straight onto it moves with it, and moving concrete cracks. So every job here starts below the slab: compacted, stabilized base; steel tied up on supports so it rides through the middle of the pour instead of lying on the bottom; a 4,000-plus PSI mix; control joints cut on schedule; and cure time respected even when the heat tempts everyone to rush. None of that is exotic. It is just the part the fast-growing subdivisions skipped, and it is why so many of their driveways cracked before the first HOA letter arrived.

Finished broom-finish concrete driveway
A driveway is a base, a grid of steel, and a pour — in that order of importance.

What we pour

Flatwork is the whole business, and it is done by one crew. Driveways — new, replacement, extensions, RV pads. Patios, pool decks and walkways in broom, exposed aggregate or stamped finishes. Shop and garage slabs, barndominium pads, carports and shed foundations. And repair and replacement for the cracked, settled or scaling concrete that somebody else poured — with a straight call on which side of the repair-or-replace line your slab sits.

A quote is a measured, written number

Send the quote form with rough dimensions if you have them; if you don't, measure nothing — we do that part. Somebody comes out, measures, checks access and drainage, talks through finish options, and hands you a written per-square-foot price. No "sign today" pressure, no number that changes when the truck arrives. Most quotes go out the same week.

Then the sequence everyone can see: tear-out if there is old concrete, forms, base, steel, pour, finish, joints, cleanup. Most residential jobs are formed and poured inside a week, weather permitting, and the job ends with a walk-through together and plain guidance on cure times — when you can walk it, when you can park on it.

Three things you won't hear from us

  • "Crack-free concrete." Every slab in this county cracks eventually; the point of building it right is deciding where, and keeping the cracks tight and level. The crack guide tells you which ones matter.
  • "Park on it this weekend." Vehicles wait about seven days; heavy trucks and RVs closer to twenty-eight. Anyone saying otherwise two days after a pour is telling you about their callback policy.
  • "Mesh is fine." In this soil it is rebar, on chairs, every time we can spec it. The rebar-versus-mesh page explains why mesh usually ends up doing nothing.

Both sides of the lake, both sides of I-45

Based in Conroe and working the whole county: Willis, Montgomery, Magnolia, New Caney, Cut and Shoot, and the rest of Montgomery County. Each of those pages is written for that town's ground and that town's rules, because a lakefront HOA lot in Montgomery and an acreage pad in Magnolia are not the same job.

When to reach us
